An amazing Lake Havasu welcome

On Tuesday we headed to Lake Havasu City for an evening get together with the local hot rodding community. When we left Phoenix we had no idea what was waiting for us in Havasu.
It was a three hour drive across Arizona on Tuesday morning. We intentionally avoided the interstate and took the two lane for a very pretty drive. We had booked rooms for the evening at the Nautical Resort on the island that was reached by crossing the actual London Bridge. The resort was great and the weather was beautiful. After checking in we gathered at 4pm to make the short drive to the main street in downtown Lake Havasu City. The Over the Hill Gang, some other local clubs and local rodder Dick Raczuk had really gathered the troops . When we arrived there was already a huge turnout of local vehicles. With our 80 cars there were over 300 special interest vehicles on display up and down the main street of town. People had already started to gather and one of the local radio stations were on hand to cover the event. From 4 until 8pm we all enjoyed meeting and chatting with local hot rod enthusiasts. The restaurants were open and live music came from many of the clubs. It was a great evening in Lake Havasu City.
Wednesday morning we still had some visits to make. We divided into two groups. We visited Dick Raczuk’s beautiful home and saw his very large personal workshop. We also visited Havasu Speed. They were working on a 32 Vicky for Sherm’s Platong owner Gary Matranga. With many body modifications and a Hemi under the hood it will be another super hot rod for Gary’s stable.
We wrapped up our 24 hours in beautiful Lake Havasu City with a noon time visit to Premier Street Rod. Owner Rob Logsdon, his wife and crew went out of their way to welcome us. The showroom was filled with goodies and the Road Tourians did some shopping. Premier assembles 1948-1953 Chevy pickup bodies right on the premises and we got a look at what goes into the steel truck bodies. We also were treated to a great lunch provided by Premier Street Rod. It was a wonderful time in Lake Havasu City but it was time to get to Las Vegas. The SEMA Show was in full swing and we were special guests.
