Sherm’s Plating Sacramento Kick-Off
by Jerry Dixey
The Sherm’s Custom Plating Tour got off to a great start in Sacramento on Friday morning. Always one of the largest Tours of the year 55 of the registered 60 vehicles were on hand for the initial drivers meeting.
After handing out the credentials, itineraries, hat and license plate we headed off to the huge Flowmaster manufacturing facility in West Sacramento. The folks at Flowmaster had invited us to stop by for some lunch and get a tour of their complex. The lunch was great and it was amazing to see the capacity that they have to produce their large line if specialty mufflers. All of the staff from Flowmaster were very informative and anxious to tell the story of this company that has been a part of our industry for over 30 years. It was a great stop at Flowmaster and a perfect way to kick off our week as we head to the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion.
From Flowmaster it was a short drive to Sherm’s Custom Plating. Sherm’s has been the official Chrome Plater for the Road Tour for a number of years. President Gary Matranga has been active in planning all of the Sherm’s Tours over the past 5 years and even joins us on the road. At Sherm’s we were greeted by Gary’s partners Art Holman and Dave Dougherty and Sales and Service coordinator Kelly Wiley. Art gave us a great look at the chrome plating process and talked about the attention to detail that makes Sherm’s the chrome plating choice of all the famous car builders in the nation. We all received Sherm’s Plating T-Shirts.
It was a great start to what will be a great week on the Sherm’s Custom Plating AMSOIL / Street Rodder Road Tour. Check back later for more pictures.
