The California Hot Rod Reunion

It was a beautiful sunrise in Cambria. Some folks headed to Hearst Castle and others set their sites on Bakersfield. The trip from Cambria to Bakersfield goes past the intersection where James Dean had his fatal crash in 1955. Blackwell Corners was his last stop in his Porsche before the accident.
The NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion kicked off on Friday morning at historic Famoso Raceway about 20 miles north of Bakersfield. The AMSOIL/Street Rodder Sherm’s Plating Road Tour had a hospitality tent and special parking all weekend.
On Friday evening at the kickoff dinner Roy Brizio and Jim DeFrank from California Car Cover were among those inducted into the Hall of Fame. The pit area at the Reunion was filled with historic vintage race cars and folks that were part of the early years of drag racing. Walter Wagner was awarded the Golden Shine Award for keeping his car shining all week long. It was a great weekend at the California Hot Rod Reunion and a fantastic week on the Sherm’s Custom Plating Road Tour. Thanks to Gary, Art and Dave from Sherm’s for their continued support of the Road Tour program.
It has been a great year on the AMSOIL/Street Rodder Road Tour. We are close to announcing our 2014 schedule. We hope you will join us next season.
